Cable internet Service

Introduction to Spectrum Cable Internet Service

Spectrum is one of the largest providers of cable TV, internet, voice, and mobile services across America. The Spectrum brand was adopted in 2016 combining Charter’s local subsidiaries Bright House Networks, Charter, and Time Warner Cable after a major merger. Today, Spectrum delivers connectivity through advanced broadband infrastructure meeting the entertainment and communication needs of over 31 million customers across 41 states.

History of Charter Communications and Formation of Spectrum Brand

Charter Communications was founded in 1993 by Microsoft and telecom veteran Barry Babcock as a privately held company. Through shrewd acquisitions of smaller cable franchises in the 90s, Charter became one of the top 10 cable operators in America. The early 2000s saw rapid customer growth and product innovation including high-speed internet service and expanding into telephone offerings.

In 2016, Charter completed deals buying both Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. The merged entity was rebranded Spectrum to better signify fast reliable service across cable TV, internet, voice, and mobile domains in the new digital era.
